The Bay Area Small Business Development Corporation, now Nor-Cal FDC, was created in 1978 to assist small businesses in obtaining financing. Working with the California State Loan Guaranty Program, Nor-Cal FDC provides the "guaranty" or collateral to finance the loan.
This enables businesses that traditionally would not receive funding to obtain financing and build their companies.
Nor-Cal FDC is a public benefit corporation chartered and regulated by the California Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. We have a long history of helping local small businesses gain access to capital by providing guarantees to lenders throughout the nine counties in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the State of California.
We have successfully assisted thousands of businesses by providing the "collateral of guaranty" to secure financing.
Entrepreneurs who want to start or expand a business may find it difficult to obtain capital they need to purchase machinery, real estate, inventory, etc. Many of these businesses posses solid business ideas and plans, and are able to demonstrate a consistent and unblemished credit history, but due to little or no collateral, are not able to obtain financing through traditional small business loans.
Nor-Cal FDC is also a certified Community Development Entity (CDE). Certification as a CDE means that an organization meets the CDE eligibility requirements. These requirements state that a CDE must be a legal entity; must demonstrate a primary mission of serving, or providing investment capital for, low-income communities through their representation on a governing board of, or advisory board(s) to, the CDE.
